Environmental factors are one of the biggest things that affect the health of our cars. Winter is one of the worst times for cars. All of the extreme temperatures, snow, salt, and everything else force our cars to work harder than usual. Surviving winter takes some special equipment on your car.
One of the most important parts of a car are the tires. In the winter, you want a set of tires that can give you a better grip on the road. The traction and improved handling are great for the winter, but when the Spring thaw comes it’s not as necessary. So, when is the right time to switch out your tires?
The Best Time to Get Summer Tires
Of course, you want to be sure that it’s time to make the switch. There can be late snowfalls or freezes that can make your drive a bit slippery. You want to be fairly confident that the cold is really over before making the switch. A good set of all-season tires can make the transition from winter to summer pretty easy. All-season tires are a good, all-around type of tire that can get you where you need to go.
You’ll want to be absolutely sure the temperatures aren’t going to dip below freezing before switching over to summer tires. Right around 7 degrees Celsius is when you want to start thinking about making a change. When the temperature is consistently above that, then it’s safe to make the switch. Before you do switch over, it might be worthwhile to get your tires realigned as well. The rough winter roads can easily knock things off balance.
